Sophomore Year of Purpose is a program where students spend a semester at a Gies Global Hub, either domestic or international. While completing their sophomore-year coursework away from campus, students explore the societal value of business through purpose-driven experiential learning opportunities.

The program provides the opportunity and space for students to thoughtfully and intentionally consider their responsibilities to themselves, their values and their communities as they build their identity as global citizens and future business professionals.
The project-based experiential learning approach provides concrete experiences to ground the more theoretical coursework, while offering students solid experience applying theory to practice.
Through this unique opportunity, students develop important soft skills that are prized by employers, including creative problem solving, active listening, understanding of complexity, critical thinking, and empathy.
