Business 101 introduces students to the notion of business on purpose, as well as to skills and experiences that will help them thrive in the Gies College of Business and in their future careers. The course is grounded in an understanding of the role and value of business as an institution in society. Students then cultivate a sense of personal vocation in business through the development of professional skills, goals, and values. Finally, students investigate how professional responsibility can guide ethical decision-making at the level of the individual, the firm, and society. The course's learning culminates in a client-based capstone project, which requires groups to demonstrate problem-solving, professionalism, and an awareness of business's role in society.
