National Trial Competition--"Witnesses" Needed

College of Law - Thursday, September 24
 Academics   non-OUA
The University of Illinois College of Law is hosting a national trial competition at the College of Law from October 16-18.  Law schools from across the nation are competing, including Harvard, University of Chicago, Emory, Northwestern, Wake Forest, Houston, and Southern Methodist.

The problem involves a trade secret dispute.  Each side (both plaintiff and defense) utilizes an expert witness.  The experts are CPAs who analyzed the case to determine damages in the event the jury finds liability for breach of contract and/or theft of secrets.

The College of Law thinks it would be a great experience for both the law students and the Gies undergraduates if Gies students play the role of expert witnesses.  The College of Law would provide the Gies students/role-playing witnesses with their expert reports and depositions.  They would then be assigned to one of the law school trial teams to play the expert witness role at trial.

Sign-up to volunteer here:  Gies Expert Witness Volunteers – Fill out this form.
