ACCY 199: Technology and Disruption

Do you want to make yourself future-proof? While we can't predict the future, we can predict that change will become increasingly common and more impactful. With the explosive growth of emerging technologies or the increasing use of social pressure, businesses face new challenges in identifying and managing potential disruption. Whether it is energy companies responding to climate activists or business leaders trying to understand the implications of artificial intelligence, disruption has become increasingly prevalent and challenging. In this course, we review social activism and different technologies at a high-level and discuss how they may impact, positively and negatively, both society and business. Potential technologies that will be reviewed and demonstrated at a high-level include data analytics, machine learning, drones, chatbots, augmented and virtual reality, language translation, blockchain, remote sensing, and artificial intelligence.
