In the information technology driven world we live in today, information security has assumed a great importance and has operational and legal impacts in the business world. As information technology grows and its applications expand, so do security threats and data breaches. In this course, students will be introduced to key managerial and technical aspects of information security with a constant focus on frameworks and techniques for effectively detecting, managing and mitigating information security threats.

This course focuses on firms in the service sector. Specifically, we will consider service delivery, service encounter, service quality and management of capacity and demand through techniques of revenue management. Using a blend of cases and lectures this course will explore these aspects in diverse service industries such as financial services, hospitality, retail and healthcare. The course examines how such firms have utilized ideas of employee/customer participation, scalability, service quality, and experience management to great effect. The material in this course is central to a specialization in Operation.

- BPM/OM Program Elective Course - Select Three
This course allows you to apply the topics you learn in the Information Systems and/or Operations Management curriculum in real world projects. A practicum experience, implemented through project teams, provides you the opportunity to apply the techniques to company sponsored projects. This course follows the Action Learning template with a clear focus on delivering value to the client, while ensuring your learning outcomes. The teams are required to work closely with the sponsoring company. In addition, you are required to present their final reports to the sponsoring company in the form of a written report and oral presentation. While you are provided guidance by the faculty as needed, the teams work closely with the sponsoring company. In class, we will help you gain the skills you will need to successfully complete the project. If you work hard in this class, you will have a compelling story to tell as you interview for internships and jobs and you will gain skills that will help you succeed in your career.
