The course provides hands-on introduction to Design Thinking and the principles of Interaction Design, which not only involves designing technological solutions, but the interaction between technology and people who use them. Human centered design framework that focuses on developing deep understanding for people,technology, and society will be used. Students will be introduced to the 4 stages of user interface design cycle as they design mobile information systems during the semester. They will learn design methodologies rooted in Human Computer Interaction literature such as journey mapping, sketching, storyboarding, wire framing, prototyping etc to design a solution that delights the users. No coding experience required.

This course focuses on firms in the service sector. Specifically, we will consider service delivery, service encounter, service quality and management of capacity and demand through techniques of revenue management. Using a blend of cases and lectures this course will explore these aspects in diverse service industries such as financial services, hospitality, retail and healthcare. The course examines how such firms have utilized ideas of employee/customer participation, scalability, service quality, and experience management to great effect. The material in this course is central to a specialization in Operation.

A select program designed to prepare students for a successful career in pricing; course incorporates peer mentorship, guest lectures by industry professionals, case studies and competitions, company visits and summer internship opportunities. Students will normally apply during the spring semester of their sophomore year and, if accepted, participate during their junior and senior years. Course will not satisfy Business Administration major requirements. Admission by application only.
