Hello Gies Community!
You should have recieved an email from our Provost Monday, November 23rd about some policy updates regarding Credit/No Credit and the Drop Deadlines. We wanted to reach out and further explain these policies, as well as give you a few things to think about as a Gies student.
Electing Credit/No Credit for Fall 2020 Courses
- The deadline to elect the Credit/No Credit grade has been extended to 11:59 PM CST January 5, 2021
- The process for electing Credit/No Credit is still being determined and more information will be shared as it becomes available.
- If you are considering Credit/No Credit, please note that only a grade of C- or higher will result in "Credit"
- Once you choose Credit/No Credit, you will not be able to reverse your decision. We reccomend waiting to choose this option.
- We will continue to update processes and policies on our Gies Groups Page. You can continue to check back for more information.
Late Drop Deadline Extended to Friday, December 18, 11:59 PM
- Students can submit a request to drop Fall 2020 courses without a "W" for Fall 2020, by Friday December 18 at 11:59 PM CST.
- You will be able to drop the course yourself via Self-Service as long as you will not be below 12 hours. Contact undergrads@business.illinois.edu if you need assistance dropping a class that will take you below 12 credit hours.
- Previous late drops with a "W" and withdrawals that have already been approved will be changed to drops without a "W" at a later date.
- No refunds will be provided for late drops or withdrawals.
- If your course ended before December 1, 2020 and you would like to drop the course, please reach out to the Office of Undergraduate Affairs at undergrads@business.illinois.edu.
Before Dropping Courses
- If you receive Financial Aid, check with the Office of Student Financial Aid about any impact on your aid.
- If you are an international student, check with the International Student and Scholar Services about the potential impact on your visa status.
- Dropping a course could impact your ability to progress in your major. Be sure you understand the full impact of dropping a course. Our advising team will be available for drop-ins and appointment advising after Fall Break.
- You cannot drop a course if there are any pending academic integrity infractions or if you have been found responsible and assigned a grade of "F" as a result of the violation.
- If you have questions, you can come to Drop-in hours, Peer Advisor Drop-Ins, or schedule an appointment with an academic advisor. Note that due to registration Time Tickets opening Nov. 30th, you may not be able to get a 1:1 appointment right away. However, you have some time to wait and see an advisor, as these deadlines are not immediate.
