Summer Session FIN 221, 300, and 435 Available

 Course Information 
The Department of Finance will be offering three summer session courses:  FIN 221, 300, and 435.  Read carefully though the information below to understand the content and dates of the courses.  When taking summer courses it is very important to consider a few things as you make your decision: 
  • Please meet with an academic advisor to discuss your decision to take a summer session course. 
  • Use the Summer 2021 Academic Calender to view drop deadlines.
  • Review Tuition and Fees responsibilities through the Office of the Registrar


Fin 221 Corporate Finance


Introductory study of corporate financial management, in particular how the financial manager's choices add value to shareholder wealth through investment financing and operating decisions.
  • Prerequisite: Completion of Econ 102 or Econ 103
  • Meets: June 14, 2021 - August 5, 2021
 

Fin 300 Financial Markets

Theory and applications associated with the functioning of financial markets to include the conceptual foundations of portfolio theory, risk management, and asset valuation. The stock, money, bond, mortgage, and futures and options markets are examined.

  • Open to all Gies students
  • Prerequisite: Completiong of  FIN 221.
  • Meets: June 14, 2021 - August 5, 2021
 

Fin 435 Personal Wealth Management


Studies personal wealth management techniques with an emphasis on life insurance products; covers life insurance policies, annuities, trusts, buy-sell arrangements, investing in stocks, bonds and mutual funds, banking and barrowing, purchasing residential and commercial real estate, income and estate taxation and management of personal financial portfolio.
  • This course is open to all majors, and prerequisites are waived.
  • Restricted to students with Junior or Senior class standing.
  • Prerequisite: FIN 300
  • Meets: June 14, 2021 - August 5, 2021
