Become Part of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program
Are you looking for a way to have a positive impact on your community while also developing your accounting skills and putting them to use to help others?
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program at Gies College of Business is looking for purposeful, intentional participants to create a positive outcome within our community. VITA offers free tax help for people who make $58,000 or less, persons with disabilities, limited English speaking taxpayers, and the elderly who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns.
If you want to help our community, get involved in the VITA program: enroll in ACCY 199 this spring.
- ACCY 199: Tax in Action – equips you to prepare tax returns for actual clients of the VITA program.
- ACCY 199: Tax Practice Management – enables students to serve as managers for the VITA program. NOTE: Priority will be given to students with previous VITA experience. Seniors are invited to apply with the endorsement of a faculty member. You must have departmental approval to register. Send your resume to vita@business.illinois.edu.
