CAREER EVENTS (Gies College of Business)
Building upon the Career Foundations pre-arrival online course and the MSF Career Boot Camp, Gies Career Services has organized several career events this Spring to help with your career search.
MSF Job Search Meet-ups: Discovering Opportunities & Companies (The 2-Hour Job Search Method)
[Note: 4th semester students - we hosted this session during your first semester so this is a repeat. However, if you missed the session, feel free to sign up]
As students embark on their job search, they often ask:
- How do I discover and find companies? Any suggested resources?
- How many companies should I target?
- What type of companies and organizations should MSF students focus their attention?
- Which companies and roles have previous MSF students worked/interned for?
- How do I reach out to people/alumni working at my target companies?
- How can I stay organized and manage my time effectively during my job search?
If you have the same questions and would like to learn more, we encourage you to sign up for one of our sessions where we will address all of these questions and share resources on how to discover opportunities and companies (we will use the method based on the book “The 2-Hour Job Search” by Steve Dalton)
I know it might seem early but if you want to start preparing for Fall recruiting (some companies start recruiting for full-time roles as early as July), then we strongly encourage you to attend this session.
Date/Time: For students' convenience, we are hosting 2 identical sessions so please only sign up for one:

Storytelling is a crucial component of any successful candidate's job search and professional career. Do you know how to effectively tell your story? Brand yourself? Strategically market your skills and abilities?
We find that students struggle to tell their story in a relevant, timely, intentional, and strategic manner. Do you lack confidence in this area or just want to brush up on your storytelling skills? Not everyone is a strong storyteller - but YOU can be. Storytelling is a skill everyone can be taught and excel at. Come learn about the foundation of storytelling, when to use it, how to use it effectively, and why it is a lifelong practice! Presented by Gies Career Services.
