CAREERNOMICS
Have you visited the site yet?
During many of my one-on-one conversations with you, I have walked you through the career search tool, Careernomics; have you gotten the chance to explore it yet?
As a Gies student, we have for your membership (normally a paid job board) to provide you access to international & domestic job boards, company research tools, and leadership development program rankings and openings. Let's put it this way, you have access to job postings and information that many would never see or be able to utilize unless they paid for this membership on their own. You only have about 10 months left before you lose access - take advantage of these stellar tools! Just make sure you login with your university netid.
The link above will take you to the webpage that walks you through how to use the site. Here's a sample:

Management Consulted & Careernomics are two of the most valuable tools you can use to advance your own skills and knowledge. I cannot recommend it enough.
Want to discuss your findings? You can always book a 'MSTM-Vision Chat' with me through Handshake.
Not quite ready for an appointment? Email me! I'd love to hear from you.

“Interview Prep Series”
October is Interview Prep Month!
According to Gartner, a research and advisory firm, 86% of organizations are incorporating new virtual technology to interview candidates due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Whether you are interviewing over the phone, video chat or pre-recording your answers, being interviewed in a virtual environment (and trying to prepare for the various types of interview questions such as behavioral and case questions) can sometimes be a daunting and intimidating experience.
The best way to gain confidence when interviewing is to prepare and practice! Gies Career Services is launching our “Interview Prep Series” during October to help students sharpen their interviewing skills. We encourage all students to participate!

PRE-RECORDED VIDEO INTERVIEW REVIEW
More and more employers now require candidates to participate in a pre-recorded video interview as part of the screening process to determine who moves on to the next round. A pre-recorded video interview is an interview where the interviewer isn’t present when the candidate answers the question (also known as one-way interviews). In the one-way video interview, the job seeker's answers to preset questions are recorded for the employer to see later.
Recording your answers to difficult interview questions (and being timed) can be a daunting and intimidating experience so the best way to boost your confidence is to practice recording yourself and receiving feedback so that you know which areas you need to improve.
Gies Career Services is offering review sessions to provide feedback and share tips!
