Late Drop Deadline - Reading Day, Dec. 7th

Student Success would like to remind you of the late drop appeal deadline and provided little more information about your options so that you can make the best choice.

LATE DROP DEADLINE INFORMAITON
  • Students can request to drop a Fall 2023 courses with a "W" through Reading Day, Thursday, December 7th at 11:59 pm.
  • Review the policy and complete the Late Course Drop Appeal on Undergraduate Advising Gies Groups to petition to drop a course after the initial drop deadline.
BEFORE DROPPING COURSES: SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
  • If you are receiving Financial Aid, check with the Office of Student Financial Aid about impact on aid. Dropping, failing, or earning "no credit" for a course will impact Satisfactory Academic Progress.
  • If you are an International Student, check with the International Student and Scholar Services about impact on your Visa status.
  • If you are a student athlete, check with Intercollegiate Athletics about impact on eligibility.
  • Dropping courses may impact your ability to declare your major and the time it may take to graduate. Failing courses will also impact these.
  • You cannot drop a course if there are any pending academic integrity infractions or if you have been sanctioned with a grade of "F" as a result of the violation.
  • If you have questions about dropping a course, you can do any of the following:
    • Set an appointment with your academic advisor
    • Go to Express Advising
CONSIDER YOUR OTHER OPTIONS....
  • Grade Replacement:  All undergraduate students have the option to repeat courses in which they earned a C- or below and use the new grade to replace the grade they earned in the first attempt. Carefully review the policy and talk it over with an advisor.
  • Incomplete Grades:  An incomplete grade ("I"), as defined by the Student Code (§3-104), may be requested by a student who is experiencing an extenuating circumstance (i.e. a serious illness, personal injury, death in the immediate family, etc.) that is inhibiting the student from completing the remaining coursework by the end of the term. Carefully review the policy and talk it over with an advisor.
  • Gies Retroactive Semester Withdrawal:  The Gies College of Business may consider petitions from students to withdraw from a semester (or drop individual courses in a term) after the conclusion of the final examination and/or submission of final grades. For consideration of this petition, a student must have experienced extraordinary extenuating circumstances beyond the student's control that prevented the student from initiating a withdrawal or course drop during the semester. Carefully review the policy and talk it over with an advisor.

QUESTIONS?
Attend Express Advising for immediate assistance from a professional advisor.

Thank you, and good luck in the remaining days of the semester!
