Spring 2025 Tech Projects

Customer Discovery Platform

Project Manager: Sahasra Kotarkonda

Tech Lead: Rishabh Chhabra

_____________________________________________________

The Gies Disruption Lab seeks to design and develop an interactive Customer Discovery Platform to help startup founders validate ideas through simulated customer discovery conversations. The platform will leverage AI avatars with voice-to-voice interaction to create realistic interview experiences and provide personalized coaching feedback.

Spatial AI

Project Manager: Tony Liu

Tech Lead: Tanav Palisetti

_____________________________________________________

Spatial AI has engaged the Disruption Lab Tech Arm to design, build, and deploy a CAD model sharing platform. The platform will enable students to upload, store, share, and interact with CAD designs, with enhanced visualization features, including 3D viewing and VR integration.

LLM Inference (Fusion)

TPM: Sidd Cheetancheri

_____________________________________________________

This initiative aims to establish a functional, distributed LLM inference system leveraging open-source models and the existing GPU-equipped hardware within the MakerLab. Our primary technical objective is to design, build, and deploy a proof of concept that demonstrates the feasibility of distributing computational load across available hardware. This project will focus on the core technical implementation, including infrastructure setup, model integration, performance benchmarking, and the development of a basic user-facing "playground" dashboard. The ultimate goal is to provide a solid technical foundation for a university-wide LLM resource, culminating in a comprehensive handoff package of code and documentation for future development teams.

AI Avatar

Project Manager: Hriday Chauhan

Tech Lead: Anisha Nagaraj

_____________________________________________________

The Disruption Lab Tech Arm will design, develop, and deploy an intelligent AI Avatar for use with Professor Aric’s course materials. The AI Avatar will serve as a contextual teaching assistant, trained on the professor’s coursework, capable of answering course-related questions accurately and provide informed opinions from Professor Aric’s perspective while filtering out irrelevant queries. The solution will incorporate advanced AI features such as cross-session memory, multimodal input support, and anomaly notifications for engineers. Deployment will be integrated directly into the course’s website for student use.

Identomat

Project Manager: Aditya Ved

Tech Lead: Gina Liu

Utilize LLMs and/or other machine learning models (CNNs, LSTMs) to extract specific features from pictures or videos of IDs and output the extracted features in a structured format. This structured format of data can then be used to pass into a machine learning algorithm to do identity verification and deepfake detection.

GIES Metaverse

Project Manager: Vaani Rometra

Tech Lead: Mahin Matlapudi

_____________________________________________________

Implement multi-player interaction in the Unity project to allow multiple people to enter the virtual platform at the same time and interact with each other. This project enhances immersive educational experiences for online students. Jamie Nelson (Associate Director, Educational Innovation) is the primary client, with support from VR professionals. The platform runs on the Meta Quest 3 headset.

Nexus Prompt Engineering Platform

Project Manager: Divya Thumu

Tech Lead: Pritika Aggarwal

_____________________________________________________

This project's purpose is to design and deploy a secure, cloud-based educational platform for prompt engineering. It integrates modular curriculum delivery, a searchable institutional knowledge base, role-based authentication, and interactive tools (e.g. prompt sandbox, API-driven model testing) while architecting for scalable expansion across the Gies College of Business.

Data Science Research Institute

Project Manager: Maansi Singh

Tech Lead: Ryan Zhou

_____________________________________________________

Deploy and implement CI/CD on the Project Dependency Graph (PDG) project that was implemented in previous semesters, using Neo4J and Kubernetes. From there, further development will be added to PDG such as Asana API integration and further refinement.

Agentic AI

Project Manager: Adya Daruka

Tech Lead: Adarsh Danda

_____________________________________________________

The Agentic Workflow project aims to design and implement an AI-powered system that curates, synthesizes, and delivers timely insights from trusted sources. The assistant will act as an institutional knowledge curator, helping faculty and staff stay current on AI-related developments while reducing time spent on manual scanning and improving competitive intelligence. The system will automate curation, enable structured delivery (via email and an interactive interface), and preserve institutional memory through historical storage of insights.
