Access and Multicultural Engagement Special Webinar Event with Dr. Andre Perry

Our nation faces significant challenges addressing the racial wealth gap, a phenomenon of inequity amplified by the coronavirus pandemic. This gap leaves many Black families at a significant economic disadvantage. Less wealth also means Black Americans are underrepresented in the market for financial products and services. Join us for a special webinar event Tuesday, February 23 at 6pm with Dr. Andre Perry. The Brookings Institution fellow and author, Dr. Perry will provide insight into the profound intersections of race and wealth and the cost of continued racial stratification.

Andre Perry is a Fellow in the Metropolitan Policy Program at Brookings, a scholar-in-residence at American University and a columnist for the Hechinger Report. His research focuses on race and structural inequality, education, and economic inclusion. Perry's recent scholarship at Brookings has analyzed Black-majority cities and institutions in America, focusing on valuable assets worthy of increased investment.

Join us for National Hispanic Heritage Month!

Since 1988, the United States has set aside the time from September 15 to October 15 as National Hispanic Heritage Month. We use this time to honor the many contributions Hispanic Americans have made and continue to make to our nation. It is a great chance to celebrate the history, culture, and traditions of people from Spain, Mexico, Central and South America, and the Caribbean.

Access and Multicultural Engagement in Gies Undergraduate Affairs invites you to join us as we learn more about and celebrate our Hispanic students, their families, and their culture with a variety of events all month long. The events calendar will be updated throughout the month.
