Summer 2026 Course Deadline Policies
If you are planning to take coursework this summer, review the following information about Illinois and off-campus coursework....
Summer Sessions at Illinois
A summer session is the part of term (POT) each course is scheduled. Knowing the POT is important for canceling, dropping, and withdrawing. Review the section details of Course Explorer to know the POT courses are scheduled.
Illinois CANCEL Policy Deadlines
Canceling a course means the course(s) session has not started, and you are not planning to attend and participate.
-
May 17th at 11:59pm CST - Deadline to cancel ALL semester registration through Self-Service. This is the best way to avoid charges for courses you are not planning to attend.
-
June 15th at 11:59pm CST - Deadline to submit a request to cancel your Summer POT 1, S2 or S2A registration through Self-Service.
Review Illinois Registrar - Cancel Registration
Illinois Drop Policy
If you are taking multiple Illinois courses in a summer session, then you can drop one course your own through Self-Service. Dropping means the course has started, you attended and/or partcipated, and it is before the drop deadline listed on the Illinois Registrar Academic Calendar. If you are only enrolled in one course for the session and you would like to drop that single course, then review Illinois Registrar - Cancel Registration.
Illinois Withdrawal Policy
Withdrawing means the course has started, you attended and/or participated, and you are not planning to attend ANY courses for that summer session. To withdraw, notify Gies Records at Records@business.illinois.edu - include the last day you attended and/or participated.
