Gies Honors First-Year Experience

Admission, Principles, Benefits, and Requirements

  • ADMISSION

Incoming first-year students to Gies College of Business will be selected to join Gies Honors based on their admission application to the university.  The college attempts to invite the top 10% of incoming first-year students into the Honors program.  Similar to admission decisions to the university and college, we take a holistic approach to application review for honors.

Incoming students not invited to join Gies Honors will still have an opportunity to join Honors as rising sophomores.  Our James Scholar Program will invite the top 5% of rising sophomores to join Honors after the conclusion of the Spring semester.  All rising sophomores will have the opportunity to also apply to join the Gies Scholar Program.

  • PRINCIPLES

To provide high-potential incoming freshmen in Gies the opportunity to enhance their business education through curricular and co-curricular experiences.
