Orientation: Mark your calendar beginning August 9 for the mandatory orientation which will run the two weeks prior to classes starting. This is a required onboarding experience to prepare you to be successful in the program. It starts with virtual sessions beginning August 9 and continues in person on campus as of August 15. Orientations activities will be part of your Fall 2021 semester grades, so attendance (whether virtual or in-person) is important and required. Please make travel and accommodation plans accordingly. For those able to arrive on campus by August 9, the Gies Graduate Programs office will host social events and optional in-person activities the week of August 9 for an early opportunity to meet your Gies graduate student colleagues and program staff!

Get Ready for Gies: Get To Know Your Network

During this session, you’ll get to meet fellow graduate students from all over the globe in a fun and engaging way. We’ll use a “show and tell” format, with each student taking just one minute to share something meaningful about themselves using an object (flag of your home country, a picture, an award, etc...). It’s a great way for you to tell everyone something about yourself and for you to get to know your classmates on a more personal level. We will also have breakout rooms to find common characteristics between each other. You’ll enjoy this opportunity to start developing new friendships and your support network.
