Message from Associate Dean, Dr. Kevin Jackson

Welcome back from the holidays! I hope you enjoyed your time away from campus, got some well-earned rest, and are prepared to begin another semester. My holidays included time spent with my family, watching high school basketball and catching up on movies in the theater. One of the best movies I’ve seen in awhile was called “Just Mercy”. I won’t spoil the movie for you, but it reminded me of two things. First, there are communities in our country (and sadly, in our state) that continue to suffer from economic hardship and the maladies that often follow. Second, while solving these challenges might be beyond our individual capability, we shouldn’t allow that reality to prevent us from seeking to make things better. As the semester brings us back together, I hope you will join me in looking for opportunities to make a difference. Thank you for being part of our Gies family and see you soon!
