Academic Calendar – Updated Dates and Deadlines
The university has temporarily changed many academic policies to accommodate students’ varied needs during the spring 2020 semester.
April 20, 2020:
- Priority registration begins for Summer 2020 and Fall 2020
- Please be sure to check time tickets that came out on April 6th
April 30, 2020:
- Deadline to drop a Spring 2020 full semester course without a W.
- Deadline to select credit/no credit (CR/NC) grading option for full semester and second eight-week courses. Courses taken with CR/NC may be used to fulfill general education, major, and minor requirements for Spring 2020 only. Talk to your advisor before electing CR/NC for Spring 2020 courses.
- Deadline to select campus grade replacement or retract a prior request for campus grade replacement.

- Virtual Peer Advising Available: Peer Advisors are here for you! We partner with the Undergraduate Academic Advising team to assist with course selection, registration processes, four year plans, study abroad courses, major declaration, and academic policies. Virtual Peer Advising will be available on weekdays from 12:00pm - 5:00pm throughout the summer/fall 2020 registration period (April 20th - May 15th). - Spring 2021 Study Abroad: The spring 2021 study abroad priority application deadline is May 1. Application fees will be deferred until January. Withdrawal fees will be waived until September 14. More information
- Study Abroad Virtual 'Walk-in' Hours: Seeking guidance with your spring 2021 study abroad application or have other questions about studying abroad? The Study Abroad team is offering virtual “walk-in” appointments every Tuesday & Thursday from 10am-12pm! No need to schedule an appointment. Just join via go.gies.illinois.edu/ZoomStudyAbroadAdvising and use password 352584.
- The Counseling Center is working towards offering telehealth services. Continue to check the website for updates. Existing clients should contact Gies Embedded Counselor, Jennifer House, or the Counseling Center to schedule a phone consultation as needed. The Counseling Center continues to launch virtual workshops.

- Finance Academy Applications due Sunday, April 19th: The Finance Academy will begin accepting applications through Sunday, April 19th . In order to apply, you must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and at least freshman standing. More Information
- Student Tech Support Help Desk: Need help with Zoom, Compass or navigating your courses that are now delivered online? The Gies eLearning Student Tech Support Help Desk provides technical support for all Gies undergraduate students. If you experience technical problems in a course please submit this form and provide details of your tech issue.
