There are a few important dates, deadlines, and requirements to keep in mind as you make your decisions. We are here to help you, so please schedule an appointment with an advisor or visit Express Advising if you need assistance with any of the items below!
Week of February 27th
Gies Progress Report: The Gies Progress Report is required because it helps you assess how your course performance may impact your GPA before the add/drop deadline. Please keep a close eye on your inbox for the email "Gies Progress Report."
March 2nd
Signing Day: Declaring a major is a MAJOR decision. What are you waiting for? Join us in celebrating your achievement at the Gies College of Business Signing Day! Celebrations will be in BIF Atrium.
March 10th
Drop 16 Week Course: You can drop a 16 week course through Self-Service without a grade of W by March 10th. Please be sure to reach out to areas that may be impacted by your decision - ISSS, Illinois Financial Aid, scholarships, Bursars, etc.
Add Second 8 Week Courses: View second eight-week courses (POT B) on Course Explorer. Second eight-week courses begin March 20th. Remember, these are 16 weeks worth of coursework in 8 weeks, so plan your time accordingly.
Elect Credit/No Credit for Elective Courses: The Credit/No Credit grading option (CR/NC) offers Gies College of Business students the opportunity to complete an elective course for ungraded credit. This option cannot be used with courses taken to fulfill General Education, Business Core, or Major or Minor requirements. This option also cannot be used with course grades as “satisfactory/unsatisfactory.” Complete the Credit/No Credit Form and view the policy on Undergraduate Advising Gies Groups.
Apply for Grade Replacement: All undergraduate students have the option to repeat Illinois courses in which they earned a C- or below and use the new Illinois grade to replace the Illinois grade they earned in the first attempt. To see all of the requirements and limitations of this policy, carefully review the policy information below. March 20th - April 7th
Attend Mandatory Advising: Starting March 20th, all Success Students are required to meet with an advisor at least one time before the upcoming semester course registration. The level of academic standing determines who students will meet with for advising: 1A - Meet with any undergraduate advisor....1B, 1C, Drop, and Re-entry - Leslie Lewis, Associate Director of Academic Success. A hold will be placed on your account if you do not meet this requirement by April 7th.
