A Message from Dean Jackson:

Welcome back to campus and for some of you, welcome to campus for the first time! So much has changed in our world since we were all back in BIF. With all that has happened in the last eighteen months, it should come as no surprise that things will be different. You are different; we are different. One lesson we've learned is how important relationships are to our shared well-being. My encouragement is that you find opportunities to build healthy, authentic relationships. We also learned that our society is becoming more polarized than ever, where enemies are made of those whose opinions differ. My challenge is that you model an alternative approach and seek out relationships with classmates whose perspectives might not align your own (ask me about the Gies Community Program). More than ever, our world needs examples of how to look at others through the lens of what we have in common, and how to appreciate the ways in which we might differ. My hope is that Gies can be that example. Have a great semester and know that we are here for you.
