Important Fall 2022 Advising
Dates, Deadlines, and Details!

Your Gies Undergraduate Academic Advising Team is here to help you take your next step. Carefully read through the information below to declare your major, apply for graduation, and meet with an undergraduate academic advisor.

Declare your major!

If you are declaring for the first time, changing, or adding your major, then you MUST submit a Major Declaration form by the following dates in order for your request to be processed for the current term:

Changing or Adding a Second Major:  September 2nd is the final day for declared majors to change or add a second Gies major and be processed for the current term. Requests from declared majors received at other times will not be processed until the next change of major period. If you do not declare your major, then you run the risk of major course restrictions during the Spring 2023 registration period.

First Time Declaring a Major:  October 14th is the final fall day for Gies Business students to declare their major for the first time. If you do not declare your major at that time, then you run the risk of major course restrictions during the Spring 2023 registration period.

Gies+DS & Supply Chain Management Applicants:  Students planning to apply to the Gies+DS or Supply Chain Management programs will NOT be affected by the September 2nd and October 14th declaration deadlines

  • Gies +DS: Please continue to review the Gies +DS policy for Major Declaration.
  • Supply Chain Management Applicants: Supply Chain Management applicants will still need to complete the program application by the deadline. Students accepted into the Supply Chain Management major will have their major changed by Gies Undergraduate Records.

If you have already declared your major, then DO NOT complete the Major Declaration form unless you need to change or add a second major.

Apply for December 2022 graduation!

If you plan on graduating December 2022, you have to notify the Gies College of Business by September 2nd, the 10th day of instruction. You will do this through the student registration system.

  1. Select the “graduation” option from the main menu of Self-Service
  2. Click Apply to Graduate; Follow instructions to complete application
  3. Update diploma address in Self-Service

If you have already applied for December 2022 graduation, then you DO NOT need to apply again.

More information about Graduation can be found on Undergraduate Academic Advising Gies Groups.

How do I contact an Academic Advisor?

Express Advising:  Talk to a peer or professional Advisor with a brief question during Advising. Peer advisors are available 9am - 5pm M, T, W, TH and 9am - 3pm on Fridays in the Undergraduate Success Lab (1041 BIF). View the Advising and peer advising schedule on Undergraduate Advising Gies Groups.

Scheduled Appointment: Undeclared, Business Administration, and Finance majors have the ability to meet with multiple Academic Advisors within the Office of Undergraduate Affairs (OUA). Accountancy majors are assigned to an Accountancy Academic Advisor based on last name. You will need to log into Gies Groups to schedule an appointment.

We look forward to meeting with you and helping you make decisions soon!

Thank you,

The Gies Undergraduate Academic Advising Team
