Become a global citizen! Study abroad for a full semester and immerse yourself in another culture to gain a greater understanding of the world and your place in it. Developing intercultural awareness is extremely important in increasingly diverse environments and today’s global workplace. Choose from 18 wonderful partner universities with highly ranked business schools in 15 different countries. All of our partner universities offer courses in English, so you do not have to be fluent in the host country language to attend. You can take courses that count toward your degree requirements. We encourage you to start planning your semester abroad during your freshman year, and study abroad as soon as the first semester of your sophomore year.
These programs are specifically available for undergraduate students in the Gies College of Business. The application deadline is February 15th for fall programs and May 1st for spring programs*. If there are any spots open for spring programs after the May 1st deadline, they will be made available for a September 15th deadline. Study abroad slots for each location are given out first in the fall. Any remaining slots will be given in the spring semester. If location is your highest priority, you will want to apply to study abroad in the fall.
*There is no May 1 priority deadline for spring 2022 programs. Students interested in studying abroad in spring 2022 should apply by the September 15 deadline.
Spring 2022 applicants must schedule an advising appointment before September 15 using this link: https://go.gies.illinois.edu/GiesStudyAbroadAdvising. If you are not a Spring 2022 applicant, advising will be available starting in late-September.
