Handouts and Resources

One of the main question students face each semester as registration approaches is "what classes should I take?" We always advise student meet with an advisor and discuss this; however, students often prefer to create their own schedule before scheduling a meeting. To help with this, we have provided sample plans for our undergraduate programs, the MAS program, and have also provided a blank course plan to help keep you organized.

Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA)

The BSA program consists of 9 major courses (including ACCY 201 and 202) and is designed to provide coverage for all major areas of accounting in addition to preparing them for the work culture they will be entering after graduation. We also now offer a concentration in Data Science as we continue to see the demand for data analytics increase in the field.

ACCY Major Sample Plan

The ACCY major consists of courses taught by our award winning faculty in our top rated program. However, our courses follow a straight forward course progression strictly enforced by prerequisites that be found in the course descriptions in Course Explorer. Due to this structure, it is best to prepare a course plan and/or meet with an advisor to make sure you are not taking the courses out of order.

ACCY+DS Sample Plan

The Data Science concentration in our program was introduced to provide ACCY students with additional technical skills that are growing in demand in the field. Due to the additional graduation requirements and semester restricted courses, it is best to plan ahead for future semesters and meet with an advisor to better navigate this program.

Our blank course plan is designed to help students organize their academic career during their time in Gies. It provides a list of Gen Eds that you can cross off as you complete them and it tracks your credit hours to make sure you hit the 124 credit hours needed to graduate. For those interested in the MAS program, this course plan provides some additional information helpful for prospective students.

Why Create a Course Plan?

From navigating prerequisites to semester restricted courses, there is a lot of information to keep track of as you work towards completing your degree which can make registration season each semester more stressful than it needs to be. Because of this, we wanted to provide the most compelling reasons to create a course plan.

Save Time During Registration
Returning students know that classes can fill up quickly, so already knowing what you need to register for can help get you into those classes before they close up.

Stay Organized
A lot can happen in a semester that can affect your academics. Having a course plan available makes it easy to explore different options when adjusting your schedule.

Explore Other Opportunities
Course plans help determine your workload for each semester, and this can lead to exploring professional and academic opportunities you may not have considered before.
