All Gies students will have access through the Starter Pack Request Form.

Ownership of all materials belongs to Gies Student Success. Patrons are subject to the loan policies of Gies Student Success. Patrons with access to the Lending Library include:

    • Gies Undergraduate Students
    • Business Minor Students
    • Students with evidence of enrollment in the course at Illinois for the current semester
  • Borrowing

To check out an item, students will swipe their i-card for each items they borrow. Items remain in the Success Lab. When a student is done using the lent materials, they will swipe their i-card to check each item back in. Items can be borrowed daily during operation hours. While there is no time limit, we ask that borrowers remain mindful of the spirit of the Lab as a community and return items in a reasonable timeframe of two hours. Up to two items may be borrowed at a time.

  • Returning

When a student is done using the lent materials, they will swipe their i-card to check each item back in.

    • Items can only be returned to the Lab Attendant on duty. The Lab Attendant will have the borrower swipe their valid i-card to return each item.
    • Items must be returned after use by one student. For example, if a student would like to allow their friend to use the item, they will first need to return the item. The student’s friend will be able to check-out the item if there is not another patron ahead of them waiting for use.
    • Review your items before turning them in. Anything (notes, paper, etc…) left in the materials and devices will be discarded.
    • Damaged & Lost Items: Patrons will be expected to return items in the same condition they were loaned. Item damage includes (but are not limited to) the following:
      • Writing, underlining, or highlighting
      • Self-adhesive notes (Post-it® type notes)
      • Water and other liquid damage
    • Lab Attendants will check daily for lending materials. They will contact Leslie Lewis, Senior Associate Director of Academic Success, if materials are not returned. Leslie will contact the last student borrower to locate the item. Leslie has the option to place a hold on a borrower’s account until the item is returned. Continued lost items from a patron will result in a student’s suspended use of the Lending Library.
    • Appeals: Leslie will work with a patron to resolve any outstanding loans. Students can schedule an appointment with Leslie to resolve outstanding issues.
