Academic Advising

Experienced Academic Advisors help guide you through your academic journey at Gies and position you for a bright future. They are your advocates. They get to know you, answer your questions, help you choose classes, declare a major and stay on track for graduation.

AME - Access & Multicultural Engagement

AME works to create a community within Gies that fosters engagement, advocacy, and appreciation for differences that influence the success of all students. AME hosts events and programs for all students. To get involved ask for Dean White in 1055 BIF.

Embedded Counseling

Embedded counseling primarily offers counseling services to students within the department or college they serve. In so doing, they are able to better understand the unique needs of students in the areas where they are based. The Gies Embedded counselor is Jennifer House and her office can be found in 1055 BIF.

Gies Global

For traveling and exploring other schools Gies Global has many diverse programs across the whole world. Meet with a member from the team through Express Advising, information sessions, and scheduling an appointment.

Gies Groups

Gies Groups is an engagement platform for the Gies College of Business. Stay up-to-date with events happening in the College. Download the Gies Groups mobile app for either Android or iPhone.  If you have any problems or questions, visit Gies Groups Help Desk or email giesgroups@business.illinois.edu.

MIL - Margolis Marketing Information Lab

Are you interested in developing your Excel skills? Do you want to practice coding, or build your resume with certifications? The MIL is here to help Gies students build Financial Markets literacy, no matter your major or experience level- and it's all free!

OCPD - Office of Career & Professional Development

Career and Professional Development in 1034 BIF provides career advising, skill development workshops, résumé reviews, career fairs, and much more.

Peer Advising

For asking questions about campus, class scheduling or even setting up a graduation plan; Peer Advising at BIF 1041 is the perfect place for that.

Peer Tutoring

Gies Peer Tutoring services are free and help with Business Core courework: FIN 221, Fin 300, CS 105, STAT 100, Math 234 (Spring only), Math 220, Econ 102/103/302, BADM 210/211 Office Hours Prep. ACCY 201/202 tutoring along with other higher level accounting courses is offered through the Accountancy Department. View their website for hours and locations

Success Lab

The Gies Undergraduate Success Lab offers resources and support for Gies Students. Please feel free to mention the Success Lab in your syllabus, refer students directly to the Success Lab, and highlight our events in your announcements!

ARC Student Food Pantry

ARC Student Food Pantry ensures that the Illinois community has access to nutritious food and key necessities in a welcoming and educational space. Located at 201 E Peabody Drive.

Chez Veteran's Center

Chez Veterans Center's mission is to maximize the academic, social, health and career potential of veterans and military connected persons. They provide mentoring, academic services, career support, and more! Located at 908 W Nevada Street.

CCRS - The Child Care Resource Service

College is for everyone, even when they have young ones. The Child Care Resource Service is fully accredited, full-time early childhood education for children of faculty, staff and students.

The Counseling Center

The Counseling Center provides mental health counseling and wellbeing education for students. The center is staffed by a group of diverse professionals who understand the range of concerns facing students. Located at 610 East John Street.

DRES - Disability Resources and Educational Services

The Division of Disability Resources and Educational Services (DRES) offers activities, services and resources for students with disabilities and guidance for faculty on accessible teaching. Located at 1207 S Oak Street, Champaign.

Food Resources

The Office of the Dean of students provides a comprehensive food resources list for campus and the community.  Food is a daily necessity and something everyone has a right to.  Food Assistance & Wellbeing Program Food Pantry.  One spring 2020 report (pdf) found that nearly 38% of students at four-year universities claimed they were food-insecure in the previous 30 days. You are not alone.

Find Food IL

Use the Find Food IL map to find places in your community offering free food or meals. You can also find stores and markets that accept SNAP/LINK or WIC coupons. For questions about the Find Food IL Map, it's uses, and partnership opportunities please contact us at eatmovesave@illinois.edu

ID Center

The ID Center distributes i-cards for students, faculty and staff. All students and new employees must visit the ID Center to get their i-card. The first i-card is free but replacements for broken, lost or stolen i-cards cost $20. Students, faculty, and staff can also use their i-card as a debit card at campus dining halls and fast-food restaurants with Illini Cash. Cash must be put on the students i-card ahead of time. Debit or Credit cards may also be used at these places. Located at 809 S Wright St, 1st Floor of Illini Union Bookstore.

ISSS - International Students & Scholars Services

Illinois International Students and Scholars Service is a resources for our international students whether they are checking in, have questions about their status, need to take a break from campus, or have other questions this is place to check! Located at 432 Student Services Building.

OMSA - Office of Minority Student Affairs

The Office of Minority Student Affairs provides outside the classroom learning experiences, to physical and emotional wellness, leadership opportunities, global awareness, safety, fun, and career preparation, Student Affairs supports all aspects of student life at Illinois. Located at 130 Turner Student Services Building.

Open Illinois (DACA)

Open Illinois (DACA) provides information, resources and guidance for undocumented, DACA and those impacted by immigration reform.

Student Assistance Center

The Office of the Dean of Students is a resource for advocacy, engagement, support services and other opportunities available on campus. The office strives to help students in their journey to reaching their full potential inside and outside the classroom. Located in 300 Turner Services Building.

Student Conflict Resolution

The Office for Student Conflict Resolution supports the community standards of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign by promoting ethical decision making, encouraging personal and social responsibility, and facilitating the effective resolution of conflict. Located at 300 Student Services Building.

Student Legal Services

Student Legal Services has a long and proud tradition of providing legal services and awareness of the law to the students of the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign. Located at 324 Illini Union.

Cultural Houses

Many cultural houses are located on and around campus to provide a welcoming comfortable environment with programs, celebrations, events, and a place to study.

AACC - Asian American Cultural Center

The Asian American Cultural Center provides many programs that are related to Asian American interest and academics. It is open to university students, faculty, and staff. Located at 1210 W Nevada Street.

BNAACC - Bruce D. Nesbitt African American Cultural Center

Bruce D. Nesbitt African American Cultural Center has the mission of Bruce D. Nesbitt African American Cultural Center is to provide a network of programs and support services promoting the individual, social, cultural and academic well-being of Illinois' African American students. Located at 1212 W. Nevada Street.

La Casa Cultural Latina

La Casa Cultural Latina has the mission to promote a welcoming and dynamic atmosphere through the development of educational, cultural, socio-political, and social programs that lead to greater recruitment, retention, advancement, and empowerment of Latina/o students. Located at 1203 W Nevada Street.

LGBTQ Resource Center

LGBTQ Resource Center The mission of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) Resource Center at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is to foster an environment that is open, safe, and inclusive for people of all sexualities and gender identities. Located in RM 323 (3rd FL.) of the Illini Union, 1401 W. Green Street.

Native American House

Native American House provides events and programs throughout the year that allow students the opportunity to enrich their cultural and academic experiences at the University of Illinois. Located at 1206 W Nevada Street.

Women's Resource Center

Women's Resource Center works to improve the campus climate for women-identified students, which we do by developing and implementing programs that address social issues through an intersectional lens. We work collaboratively with individuals and groups to identify personal, social, economic and political issues that adversely affect women, and offers support through advocacy, education, financial awards, and social action. Located at 616 E. Green Street., Ste 202.

Apartment Communities

Not interested in residence halls? That's perfectly fine! UIUC offers apartment housing! University Housing's apartment communities are open to undergraduates who are sophomores and above, graduate students, faculty, staff, visiting scholars, and their families.

Housing & Utilities Resources

The Office of the Dean of Students provides a list of services for basic housing needs.  Basic needs refers to access to essential services that impact overall health and well-being. Basic needs resources include access to nutritious food, stable housing, healthcare, childcare, transportation, and financial resources.

PCH - Private Certified

PCH units are privately owned and operated, and are certified by the University for first-year students as well as upperclassmen. In order to maintain certification with the University, PCH facilities must meet certain requirements including offering dining plans, as well as residence life staff and community programming. Many fraternity and sorority houses are also certified, but housing is usually tied to membership, and most incoming first-year students are not yet members.

Residence Halls

UIUC residence halls offer a variety of arrangements, including living-learning communities, and options for graduate students. Housing residents have access to programming, tutoring, interactions with faculty, and connections to other students and campus resources.

Illinois Library System

The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus have libraries across campus. These libraries are free to enter and host an array of free services and resources. Illinois Library services include campus Wi-Fi networks, computer labs, free software, laptop lending and help by phone, email and walk-in. Services include:

  • Learning Technology Solutions team, Lecture Center E, Daley Library and Goldberg Research Center: equipment checkout, support for Blackboard, Google Apps and more
  • Instruction in popular software programs and web-related topics through Lynda.com, webinars and short workshops
  • Data Bases by Subject & A-Z and Course Reserves where you can look up physical items placed on reserve for your class
  • Virtual Reality where the library supports access to a variety of 360 VR applications

ACES - The Agricultural, Consumer & Enviornmental Sciences (ACES) Library

The ACES Library is a library located on South Goodwin Avenue, right across from the Marrow Corn Fields. This library is equipped with floors of private study spaces that have large window views.

Grainger Library

The Granger Engineering Library is the primary hot spot for all engineering and computer science needs! Not an Engineering major? No problem! Granger is open to all students and is equipped with a computer testing facility, multiple easy-access monitors and plenty of study spaces.

The Main Library

The Main Library located on Gregory drive and is a very popular place of study for students of all majors. Students have access to the Main Stacks (UIUC's excessive book collection) and victorian styled study areas. There is also a secret tunnel under the library that connects it to the UGL.

Residence Halls Libraries

The Residence Halls Libraries invite you to come and study, get research tips, join a book club, or pick up the latest movie or video game. Meant for relaxation and enjoyment, our library locations in the Illinois Street Residence halls and Ikenberry Commons are there to help you unwind.

UGL - Undergraduate Library ( UGL)

The Undergraduate Library (UGL) is the primary library for undergraduate students. Like the Main library, the UGL is also located on Gregory drive. It is equipped with group study rooms, private study desks on the lowest level and an Expresso Royal café.

Organizations

The possibilities to get involved with Registered Student Organizations are endless. Some are focused on community service or social issues, while others organized around common interests like sports, anime or Italian. UIUC also has a very healthy Greek system if you are interested in fraternities and sororities. For information connect through the Illini Union. Social & Cultural Opportunities

The list below includes some cultural and social opportunities that are available to ALL Illinois students that can add to your experience while here on campus.

Campus Recreation

Campus recreation has opportunities for zumba, swimming, volleyball and more! The UIUC recreational facilities that offer everything from intramural sports to personal training, as well as an outdoor field complex and outdoor recreation courts for soccer, sand volleyball, basketball and jogging. The two main locations are the Activities and Recreation Center (ARC) located at 201 E Peabody Drive or Campus Recreation Center East (CRCE) located at 1102 W Gregory Drive.

Illini Union

The Illini Union is a great place to study, meet up with friends, play the piano, grab a cup of coffee, shop, check out events, and more....

Krannert Art Museum

Krannert Art Museum is a free gallery for art, design and architecture. All are welcome to enjoy KAM's rich collection of fine art from across the globe, vibrant exhibitions, and engaging programs. Located at 500 East Peabody Drive, Champaign.

Krannert Center

Krannert Center showcases actors in professional-quality productions. If you enjoy theatre and would like to see a good show, the Krannert Center is the place to go! Located at 500 S. Goodwin Ave. Urbana.

State Farm Center

Go watch the Fighting Illini as they compete in NCAA Division I teams in mens and womens sports such as basketball, football, volleyball, swimming and many more! Tickets are available through Illinois Athletics website or through the State Farm Center. The State Farm Center is also responsible for hosting many activities such as concerts and festivals.

Transportation

All UIUC students have free access to the MTD bus system on the UIUC campus. In order to receive free bussing off-campus, UIUC students must show a visible and updated i-card to the bus driver, otherwise, of campus transportation fee is $1

  • VeoRides are bikes around campus that students are allowed to rent and use at their convenience.
  • Parking: by semester or daily. All students wishing to park their vehicles must have a parking pass or park at a parking meter.
  • ZipCars are rental cars available to UIUC students.
