Internship Course

The culminating academic experience for students in Accountancy is a professional internship that provides them with the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills gained from their coursework to a professional work environment. In consultation with a faculty mentor and Business Career Services, an accounting internship is selected which represents a match between the student's academic preparation and their career goals. This formal, guided learning experience is supervised simultaneously by the student's employer and the internship program faculty mentor. Benefits of the internship, in addition to the application and refinement of job specific knowledge and skills, include the development of professional relationships, the opportunity to discover professional strengths and areas of needed growth, and an enhanced understanding of the accounting curriculum.
