Career Immersion Program

The Career Immersion Program is specifically designed to assist transfer students during the internship search process. With 75% of the companies preferring hires with related experiences and 53% of internships converting to full-time positions nationally, finding an internship is crucial to securing a full-time position for Gies College of Business students. Top companies recruit interns during the first 4-8 weeks of the Fall semester, and the majority of their open positions are filled during the fall recruiting season. This program aims to help you prepare for the internship search before you arrive on campus.

Get a head start to your internship search.

The program consists of three 1-hour virtual meetings on each Wednesday for the month of June at 12pm (CST). During each meeting, a career advisor will discuss the best strategies to prepare for fall recruitment and work with you to develop materials that highlight your unique value. After each module, you will complete assignments and receive direct feedback from an advisor.

Session 1: Write Your Story

Master how to highlight your strengths, skills, and experience on your resume, cover leter, and online profiles such as LinkedIn and Handshake .

Session 2: Tell Your Story

Learn how to talk about your experiences and stand out to employers  through your self-introductioon and interviewing skills.

Session 3: Building Relationships for Your Career

Become an expert on networking and how to leverage relationships in during your internship search.

Program is mandatory for all incoming transfer students.

You must complete all modules of the program before you are able to meet with a Career Advisor.
